There’s more to energy saving lighting than a low wattage lamp…

It’s said that using LEDs to their full potential could almost single-handedly eliminate lighting as a major source of global emissions. However, there’s more to it than simply switching to a low-energy light fitting. Replace a traditional fluorescent light with LED energy saving lighting and you will, inevitably, save energy, but if that light is on when it doesn’t need to be then energy is still being wasted. Realising the full potential of energy saving lighting requires an added degree of sophistication to ensure that lights are only on when needed, and that when they are on, they are used efficiently. Here we explore some of the ways Commulite goes about doing this:

Intelligent light up times

The amount of daylight we get in the UK changes by around 3 minutes every day. So what do you set your automated lighting timer switches to? Even separate summer and winter settings are crude at best. This is why Commulite uses an intelligent ‘dusk-till-dawn’ solar tracking time clock that automatically adjusts light up times on a daily basis to best suit the time of year.

Tailor the lighting to suit the area

Some areas need more light than others, so rather than being just ‘on’ or ‘off’, our fittings have seven different light output settings from 4 to 18W, meaning every fitting can be set to provide the right light for its location.

Intelligent Controls

Rather than having every light fitting in a block burning at full output all night, Commulite has the unique ability to independently control each one, so they automatically switch to a lower power setting during the small hours, for example, ensuring optimum use of energy.

Save on maintenance and replacement costs too…

Our fittings do not have any fallible components within the luminaire, so when we say they are fit and forget, we mean it! We even provide an insurance backed warranty to back our claims.

Well-designed lighting

Light shining in the wrong direction is light wasted, there are so many badly designed and directed light fittings which frankly do little more than contribute to light pollution. For us efficient lighting is about taking a low energy light source, and using it intelligently to give the right light in the right place and at the right time. And that’s what Commulite is all about. To find out more about our energy saving communal and emergency LED lighting systems, call us now on 01277 600300 or email us.
